Benches & Racks

Benches and racks are simple, heavy and almost impossible to wear out, which makes them some of the best-value pre-owned purchases in fitness. A commercial bench or rack that has served a gym for years usually needs new upholstery, fresh J-hook liners and a clean-up, not structural work.

This collection includes half racks and squat racks, Olympic flat and incline benches, multi-adjustable benches, Smith machines and back-extension benches.

Buying guide

Before you buy benches & racks

  1. Check rack height against your ceiling, especially if members will do pull-ups on the top bar.
  2. J-hook and safety liners are cheap to replace; frame straightness is not, so ask for a photo looking along each upright.
  3. An adjustable bench with a wide range of positions does the work of several fixed benches in a small gym.
  4. Smith machines need anchoring or a level floor; tell us about your floor surface.
